Prof. Encarnación Montoya Martín

Encarnación Montoya Martín is a distinguished academic and expert in Economic Administrative Law, with an extensive career and major contributions in various areas of public law. Born in Winterthur, Switzerland, in 1977, she later moved to Seville, Spain, where she has lived ever since, establishing a strong link with the city as a professor at the Faculty of Law. Her family background, as the daughter of emigrants, instilled in her key values such as hard work, the pursuit of knowledge, and the importance of education. Academic background: Dr. Montoya Martín is recognized for her brilliant academic career. In 1995, she obtained her PhD in Law from the University of Seville, earning the Extraordinary Doctorate Award for her thesis “The Guarantees of the Instrumentality of Public Companies Subject to Private Law”, later published under the title “Public Companies Subject to Private Law” by Marcial Pons in 1996. Teaching career: Since 2013, she has been Full Professor of Administrative Law at the Faculty of Law of the University of Seville, after serving as Associate Professor from 1997 to 2013. Since February 2022, she has been Director of the AMINER Chair of Mining Studies at the University of Seville, dedicated to research, dissemination, and knowledge transfer to the mining sector, a strategic sector in the transition towards a climate-neutral and digital economic model.
