She is a full academic member of the Academia Malagueña de Ciencias (Malaga Academy of Sciences) and is part of the Advisory Board of the Instituto Hermes. She served as the Director of the Agencia Nacional de Evaluación de la Calidad y Acreditación (National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation) from 2020 to 2023. She holds a diploma in National Defense Culture from CESEDEN (Higher Center for National Defense Studies). Among the recognitions she has received are the "Dosta with the Heart" Award in 2020; being named one of the Top 100 Women Leaders in 2019 and 2020 as an Academic and Researcher; and the Premio Farola 2019 in Science. She is a Professor of Algebra at the University of Málaga. She has also served as the President of the Comité Español de Matemáticas (Spanish Mathematics Committee) and as Vice President of the Real Sociedad Matemática Española (Royal Spanish Mathematical Society). As a researcher, she has extensive international experience. She has worked on promoting the dissemination of science and mathematics as an essential part of culture. She has been involved in programs aimed at enhancing women’s leadership, including co-creating and directing the steMatEsElla program. She has conceptualized and curated the exhibitions "The Flavor of Mathematics" and "Parallel Universes in Dialogue". Additionally, she has published articles, stories, and poetry
