School Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - 1:1
Primary Purpose: To provide basic health care and medical services to students in the school setting, ensuring their well-being and supporting their ability to succeed in the educational environment. The LPN will collaborate with school staff, students, and families to address the health needs of students and promote a safe, healthy school environment.

- Schedule: Mon-Fri
Qualifications:
- Valid FL LPN License or Compact issued by the state.
- BLS Certifications required.
- Previous experience in pediatric or school nursing preferred, but not required.
- Knowledge of common childhood illnesses, health protocols, and state/national health guidelines.
- Ability to work with a diverse group of students, staff, and families.
Skills & Experience:
- Strong clinical skills in administering medications, performing basic health assessments, and providing first aid.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff.
- Knowledge of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and confidentiality guidelines.
- Ability to maintain detailed health records and monitor student health data.
- Ability to respond calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and responsibilities.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain professionalism in a school setting
Responsibilities:
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by a licensed physician and monitor for side effects or reactions.
- Provide first aid and emergency care in response to accidents or injuries during school hours.
- Conduct health screenings for vision, hearing, and other routine health checks, and report any concerns to parents and school administration.
- Assist with the development and implementation of Individual Health Plans (IHP) for students with chronic health conditions such as asthma, diabetes, or allergies.
- Ensure that health records are accurately maintained for each student and remain in compliance with local and state health regulations.
- Provide health education and guidance to students regarding hygiene, nutrition, and disease prevention.
- Work with school staff to create a safe and healthy school environment for all students.
- Collaborate with school counselors, social workers, and other staff to support the health and emotional well-being of students.
- Serve as a liaison between parents, physicians, and the school to address health-related concerns or needs.
- Participate in emergency drills, including fire, tornado, and lockdown drills.
- Participate in professional development activities to stay current on best practices in school nursing.
Work Environment:
- School-based setting, primarily in the health office, with occasional travel between schools if needed.
- Physical demands may include standing, sitting, and walking for extended periods, as well as occasional lifting (up to 50 lbs.).
- Must be able to handle interruptions, stressful situations, and emotional students with composure and professionalism.
- Candidates need to be comfortable with medically fragile children, lifting, toileting required.
