Job Description

Title: Director of Emergency Services

Compensation: $130,000 – $207,500/year + Bonus Potential

Schedule: Full-Time, Days (No Weekends)

Location: Nashville, TN

Position Summary:

A high-acuity regional hospital in the greater Nashville area is seeking a Director of Emergency Services to lead operations for its busy Emergency Department. This facility operates as a Level I Trauma Center and is recognized nationally for excellence in emergency, stroke, and cardiovascular care.

The Director will oversee day-to-day operations of the emergency department, manage departmental budgets, and lead a large and collaborative team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities:

Quality & Compliance

  • Champion evidence-based practices that elevate clinical outcomes
  • Ensure adherence to legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards
  • Optimize patient throughput and implement care coordination improvements
  • Promote accountability and transparency in clinical operations

Operations & Leadership

  • Lead emergency services with support from a strong management team
  • Drive staff engagement and build a culture of excellence and accountability
  • Collaborate across departments to deliver coordinated care
  • Contribute to the growth and strategic direction of emergency services

Patient Experience

  • Lead initiatives to improve the patient and family experience
  • Utilize patient feedback to guide measurable improvements
  • Foster a service-oriented environment across all touchpoints

People Management

  • Recruit, train, and retain high-performing clinical staff
  • Provide mentorship and coaching to nursing and management teams
  • Align staffing and scheduling to support quality patient care

Finance & Strategy

  • Develop and manage operational budgets
  • Monitor departmental performance and identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Participate in growth planning and service line expansion

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Active RN license (or ability to obtain in TN)
  • 3+ years of leadership experience in a high-volume Emergency Department
  • Level I or Level II Trauma experience required
  • Proven ability to lead in complex, fast-paced healthcare settings
