Job Description

TL;DR : A mission-driven HealthTech company in San Diego, CA is hiring a visionary CTO to lead the transformation of its AI-powered care coordination platform. Shape strategy, scale engineering, and directly improve how millions access critical behavioral health and social care. $200K–275K + equity.

The Opportunity:

Join a fast-growing healthcare technology company addressing one of the most urgent challenges in society: connecting people with the care they need—when they need it. With over 20 million users served and a $20M+ recent funding round from purpose-aligned investors, this platform leverages AI, real-time logistics, and secure data systems to break down barriers in behavioral health and social support access.

The Challenge : Lead the team through a pivotal growth phase without sacrificing current customer needs and access. Direct the evolution from monolithic to microservices architecture while implementing Infrastructure-as-Code, advanced DevOps, and next-generation AI capabilities.

The Technology:

  • Current Stack: Python/Django backend, React frontend, AWS cloud infrastructure
  • Data Platform: PostgreSQL with Snowflake data warehouse, advanced analytics via Tableau
  • Performance: 99.98%+ uptime with horizontal scaling and Redis caching
  • Security: Enterprise-grade compliance (HIPAA, FERPA, SOC2) with end-to-end encryption

What You'll Own:

Strategic Leadership

  • Define and execute the long-term technology roadmap
  • Build and inspire a world-class engineering organization
  • Drive platform scalability to support exponential growth
  • Lead architectural evolution from current monolith to scalable microservices
  • Transform development operations with modern DevOps practices

Technical Excellence

  • Partner with Product, AI, and Data teams to deliver cutting-edge capabilities
  • Architect systems for security, compliance, and reliability at scale
  • Integrate advanced AI for personalized experiences and proactive interventions
  • Evolve from monolithic to microservices architecture as they scale
  • Drive infrastructure modernization and DevOps transformation

Mission Impact

  • Ensure technology serves our core purpose: connecting people with life-changing support
  • Navigate complex healthcare regulations and data privacy requirements
  • Lead through a pivotal growth phase with mission-aligned investors

What You Bring:

Leadership Experience

  • Senior technology leadership role (CTO or equivalent) with proven scaling success
  • Track record building and leading high-performance engineering teams
  • Deep expertise in product collaboration and system architecture
  • Expertise in attracting and retaining top engineering talent
  • Personal Skills: Collaborative, strong communicator to connect business and technical objectives to execs, high EQ, mentality to build for purpose not to just “make cool stuff”

Technical Depth

  • Healthcare (highly preferred) or regulated SaaS experience
  • Expertise with modern cloud-native architectures (AWS, containerization)
  • Strong background in Python/Django, JavaScript/TypeScript, and React
  • Experience with data infrastructure, analytics, and warehouse solutions
  • Mastery of security frameworks, compliance standards (HIPAA, FERPA, SOC2)
  • Bonus: Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Docker), CI/CD optimization

Mission Alignment

  • Genuine passion for improving lives through technology
  • Empathy for users navigating complex systems
  • Drive to solve problems that matter

Why This Role Matters:

This platform is delivering real-world impact in one of the most important areas of healthcare access. With a trusted brand, supportive investors, and growing reach into education, municipalities, and employers, your leadership will shape systems that help people cope, heal, and thrive—at scale.

Compensation: $200K – $275K base salary (depending on experience) + pre-IPO equity and excellent benefits package
