FMI – The Food Industry Association: We’re Hiring an Accounting Assistant (Hybrid Role)

Are you detail-oriented, customer-focused, and interested in supporting the financial operations of an area trade association? FMI is looking for an assistant to join our Accounting Department.

Quick Snapshot: In this role, you’ll provide administrative and customer support for FMI’s Accounting team helping to ensure accuracy of all financial processing and supporting the daily operations of the team. You’ll process and reconcile payments, and assist with data projects.

What You’ll Do in This Role?

  • Process and maintain SQFI cash receipts, which includes obtaining payments via ACH, wire, or mail, and creating batches for Accounts Receivable.
  • Review and reconcile deposits from SQF audit databases and produce daily cash receipt batches with supporting documentation.
  • Research and respond to member and customer inquiries related to accounts receivable.
  • Provide general administrative support including publication order fulfillment, preparing and shipping items to customers, etc.
  • Assist database managers with data projects, such as extracting data, record reviews, merging records, and making updates, as necessary.

Education and Skills That You’ll Need to Be Successful:

  • One to three years of professional experience in accounting, business, or a related field.
  • A college degree in accounting or business is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 including the ability to create and use spreadsheets in Excel as well as the ability to use Teams, Outlook, etc.
  • Prior experience using accounting and/or database software preferred.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to produce error-free work.
  • Excellent telephone, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Critical thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to solve problems independently.
  • Spanish verbal and written fluency is a plus.
